Dear friend of Camp Lake Stephens,
In February I had the opportunity to get a brief (rainy) tour of the new barn area at the camp, a new addition to the Environmental Education program that is impacting the study of environmental science for a number of north Mississippi schools. But as I approached the new barn building, I could see that it was more than just a new building - there was life there - sheep, goats, horse, cow and calf. And there were new little ones ...new baby goats and sheep ... with more to come! There was new life! But new life at Camp Lake Stephens (CLS) doesn't just happen at the new barn ...
Ever since summer camp, I've been hearing about all the ways that new life has been springing up as a result of what is happening at Camp Lake Stephens - youth whose parents comment about the amazing changes in their lives, counselors who speak of how God is working in and through them, churches who celebrate a long history of campers who come back to their local communities and thrive. New life abounds at camp! And spring has not yet even sprung!
As of January 1, 2015, I now have one of the best jobs in the world - as part-time Director of Development at Camp Lake Stephens, I get the opportunity to tell the story of what God is doing and what God's people are doing through this fine camp. With a dedicated staff and board and with the generosity of good people CLS has become one of the flagship camps in Mississippi and one of its few accredited by the American Camping Association. We want to keep up that good work, and with your help we can do just that..
In the "Support Camp" pages of this web site, unfolding over the next few months, you will find a number of ways that you can provide meaningful support to Camp Lake Stephens - as a volunteer, as an ambassador, and as a donor. We know that you want to be a continuing part of this story of new life, this legacy of faith through CLS. We are working on the details, so check back often to see what is new. But for now we want to be in touch with you!
